Wired for Story:<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0 The Writer\u2019s Guide to Using Brain Science to Hook Readers from the Very First Sentence <\/em>comes out today.\u00a0 Its author is Lisa Cron.<\/p>\n

I have only read the Contents section and a few pages of the introduction, but nevertheless I am buying the book on Amazon NOW, and if you\u2019re serious about your public speaking<\/a> and presenting, you should get it too.<\/p>\n

Why?\u00a0 Because first of all, before you speak, you have to write, or at least shape <\/em>or structure<\/em> the flow of your information.<\/p>\n

So you\u2019re a writer, and like any writer, you want to hook your listeners from the very first sentence.\u00a0 And then you want to keep them hooked.<\/p>\n

Second, everyone in the business world seems to be talking about story<\/a>, but most of us don\u2019t know what it is, its component parts, how those parts are assembled, and why it\u2019s more important to our evolution and to modern society that opposable thumbs.\u00a0 How do you go about telling your story?<\/p>\n

Third, the book is based on brain-science, which confirms what artists and philosophers have intuited for ages:\u00a0 our brains are hard-wired to absorb information through storytelling.<\/p>\n

Fourth, most training in public speaking is about delivery\u2014how to stand, look people in the eye, use your voice, use your hands\u2014how to develop executive presence and professional stature\u2014in essence, how to fake confidence.<\/a><\/p>\n
