They say clothes make the man (or woman)–actually, they don’t.\u00a0 They only protect the man (or woman) from making a poor first impression.<\/p>\n
But when you’re occasionally thrust into the spotlight<\/strong>, like my fabulous friend Jim Colby, you may need a wardrobe makeover.\u00a0 Or at least a wardrobe migration from good to great.<\/p>\n Jim manages five Van Eck muni ETF<\/a><\/strong>s., and he’s often called upon to express his views as a talking head<\/em> at various industry shows and conferences.<\/p>\n Because Jim hates shopping, and his duties keep him more than busy, he works with a professional clothier who provides him with his clothing in the convenience of his office.\u00a0 In as little as 30 minutes, Jim can buy whatever he needs….suits, shirts, ties, sport coats, pants, shoes, and more!<\/p>\n (I don’t know why he buys pants if only his head and torso appear on TV and in photos, but Jim has always been careful and thorough\u2014 a typical bond guy.)<\/p>\n Jim’s clothier is from Executive Apparel Group<\/strong>, and her name is Mary Silva<\/strong>.\u00a0 \u201cAfter our first meeting Mary \u2018got it\u2019\u201d says Colby. \u00a0\u201cShe instantly focused on my desire to professionally upgrade<\/a><\/strong> in as little time as possible, and I have been extremely pleased with the service over these 7 years.\u201d<\/p>\n Jim wags on, \u201cShe does a bang-up job.\u00a0 She saves me time, money, and frustration.\u00a0 In fact, she\u2019s a life saver.\u201d\u00a0 He also appreciates the fact that all the clothing is made in the USA, so it\u2019s high quality and it fits.<\/p>\n We all need to dress for success, but we especially need to dress for success<\/a><\/strong> when we become more successful, when we’re in the news, on air, and speaking to groups<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n Our clothes need to say, in a split second, “CREDIBILITY!”<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong> No distractions, no fuss.\u00a0 And if they manage to do that for us, they’ve done their job.<\/p>\n So Jim avoids the agony that most people call, “shopping.”\u00a0 He is able to devote his time to what he does best, which is the bond thing.\u00a0 And he is looking good–good and credible, thanks to Mary Silva<\/strong> from Executive Apparel Group<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Full disclosure:<\/strong>\u00a0 Neither Mary nor Jim asked me to write this blog post, nor are they lining my pockets with cash for having written it.\u00a0 Jim is my friend, Mary is good at what she does, and if she can make Colby look good, she\u2019s gotta be a freakin\u2019 genius.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" They say clothes make the man (or woman)–actually, they don’t.\u00a0 They only protect the man (or woman) from making a poor first impression.
